NCERT & Tech Avant-Garde, Microsoft’s Education Global Training Partner, unite for digital education
The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) of India and Tech Avant-Garde (TAG), a Microsoft Global Training Partner, have agreed to collaborate on enhancing digital skills among education stakeholders in order to foster a Connected Learning Community (CLC).
NCERT, Tech Avant-Garde, and Microsoft will collaborate to advance education through Digital Transformation and Holistic Learning (DTHL), in accordance with the Digital India Campaign and the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The Digital India campaign (2015) aims to rapidly develop basic IT/ICT infrastructure, citizen services delivery via portals, apps, and other means, and digital literacy for all citizens.
TAG will provide Microsoft course content in the NCERT-shared CC-by-NC-SA format. NCERT and Microsoft/TAG will jointly issue a certificate for the course in the NCERT format.
The URL for L'avenir / Microsoft Learn will be included in the course instructions for additional learning. TAG, in collaboration with CIET-NCERT, will conduct customised courses for NCERT constituents such as the National Institute of Education (NIE) in New Delhi, the Central Institute of Educational Technology (CIET) in New Delhi, and Pandit Sundarlal Sharma in New Delhi. To name a few, there is the Central Institute of Vocational Education (PSSCIVE) in Bhopal; the Regional Institute of Education (RIE) in Ajmer; the Regional Institute of Education (RIE) in Bhopal; the Regional Institute of Education (RIE) in Bhubaneswar; the Regional Institute of Education (RIE) in Bhubaneswar; the Regional Institute of Education (RIE) in Mysore; and the North-East Regional Institute of Education (NERIE) in Shillong
“We at NCERT have partnered with Tech Avant-Garde, Microsoft's Global Training Partner, to enhance digital transformation and learning, as the National Education Policy (2020) envisions for the use and integration of ET/ICT/digital education in teaching, learning, assessment, development of eContents, digital resources for DIVYANG, and continuous capacity building of teachers,” an NCERT spokesperson says.
Additionally, it places a premium on disruptive technology research and pilots that demonstrate how such technologies can facilitate educational processes well before they are scaled up in the system. NCERT will select appropriate online courses for continuous professional development from the bouquet of courses shared by TAG on a periodic basis that will assist teachers in developing their digital skills.”
“It is an honour and privilege to work with NCERT and Microsoft,” said Ali Sait, CEO of Tech Avant-Garde. TAG – Global Training Partner will work with both organisations to transform education through technology and holistic learning. It is an incredible opportunity to empower education's most critical stakeholders – the teachers. We want to empower educators through a series of research, material development, training, and extension activities that will ultimately improve the learning capabilities of various education stakeholders. There are over 9.5 million teachers in India; however, in the new genre of learning, every teacher should – acquire Digital Skills, comprehend Knowledge Age education, and practise digital pedagogy. This partnership will develop all of the above skills in teachers, preparing them to be Knowledge Age winners.”
“Microsoft is committed to empowering every teacher to reach their full potential through technology,” said Christina Thoresen, Director of Education Industry Strategy at Microsoft Corporate Headquarters. We are thrilled to be a part of the partnership between NCERT and Tech Avant-Garde (TAG) in order to upskill educators and enable new modes of teaching and learning that are necessary in light of the dramatic changes and disruption occurring in India's education landscape. Microsoft Educator Center's free professional development resources will resonate with millions of educators in India and will assist them in establishing a lifelong learning path.” Microsoft and its global training partner Tech Avant-Garde (TAG) collaborated to conduct a five-day, one-hour-per-day Hybrid Learning training workshop for teachers in August-September.
On 5 September 2020, following the conclusion of COVID-19 and the announcement of the Goals 2020 National Education Policy (NEP), Tech Avant-Garde launched the world-record-breaking Knowledge L'avenir Conclave (KLC) webinars in collaboration with Microsoft, Knowledge Key Foundation, LYCEE Corp, Efeeonline, and Roshini Social Schooling. The largest gathering of teachers (5,000) took a first-of-its-kind test, and 3,950 of them earned Microsoft Innovative Educator (MIE) certification in a single day (27th September)! They trained 150,000 teachers from 72,000 schools with a combined student-teacher-parent population of 76 million until November 30th.
TAG was the first company in the Indian education sector to partner with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) on the Bharat Bill Payment System (BBPS), a system conceptualised by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for online fee payment in schools and other educational institutions. Fees can now be paid from any location, on any device. Approximately 18,000 schools are currently listed on this platform for fee collection. TAG has a Memorandum of Understanding with a number of school associations, which have mandated that TAG transform their member schools into UNESCO's Connected Learning Communities (CLCs).
TAG recently presented the Change Maker awards to fifty-four school principals in India in collaboration with Microsoft, Knowledge L'avenir, and the Rotary Club. A select group of principals came from schools that were recognised with Carte Blanche Digital School graduations during a special event in November 2020.
These schools have subscribed to the Digital Transformation and Holistic Learning Program (DTHL); their teachers have been trained in digital teaching; the school offers daily online classes for all grades; teachers are certified as MIEs (Microsoft Innovator Educators); and teachers have trained participants in the Knowledge L'avenir Conclave Webinars.
Digital Catalyst Certification is presented to the DTHL Coordinators; Adroit Mentor Certification is presented to Knowledge L'avenir Conclave presenters; Empowered Educator Certification is presented to teachers with digital skills; Connected Learner Certification is presented to students; and Participative Parent Certification is presented to parents.
Additionally, schools may apply to become Microsoft Showcase Schools. Additionally, teachers who present at Knowledge L'avenir Conclaves receive training to become MIE Trainers.
