'Ladakh Week' kickstarts at Expo 2020 Dubai's India Pavilion

As part of Expo 2020 Dubai's India Pavilion, the new Ladakh is ready to show off its progress and huge potential. Today, the UT of Ladakh and FICCI kicked off the proceedings as part of the 'Ladakh Week,' which will last through the 4th of November, 2021. Administration of Union Territory Events will be held throughout the week to highlight the UT's prospects in areas like sustainable infrastructure, connectivity, food processing, and tourism.

As Mr. Saugat Biswas, IAS, Union Territory of Ladakh's Divisional Commissioner/Secretary for Industries and Commerce made clear during the opening session, "Ladakh is going to be here at the India Pavilion for the next 14 days," he remarked. At Expo 2020 Dubai, we intend to bring Ladakh face to face with the rest of the globe."

On the subject of opportunities, Mr. Biswas stated that "Ladakh became a Union Territory on 31st October 2019 and since then a lot of development initiatives have taken place across focus sectors like sustainable infrastructure, connectivity and food processing and tourism". If you're looking for a variety of options, Ladakh is the place to go because it has everything from tourism to agriculture to horticulture to food processing to renewable & solar energy to carbon neutrality to adventure tourism to Astro-tourism.

"With Bollywood blockbusters like 3 Idiots, Shershah being shot in Ladakh, there exists a big scope with the region offering exclusive terrain," Mr. Biswas added, highlighting the region's significance as an emerging site for filming.

Peace and quiet can also be found in the form of tribal culture, a nomadic way of life, or monasteries serving delectable fare. Over the course of the week, there will be a variety of industry-specific expert seminars, roundtable discussions, cultural performances, and documentary film screenings. To focus on more such topics as - Industry & Commerce, Clean energy and Carbon neutral Ladakh, Hidden Gems of Ladakh, Astro Tourism, Sports & Adventure, and Lifestyle - several industry-specific expert sessions and roundtable discussions will be arranged during these events.
