Kohli, Pollard, Khan and Maxwell launch the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 campaign
Fans worldwide are urged to ‘Live the Game' today with the global debut of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021 official song and promotional film. The 16-team competition, which runs from 17 October to 14 November, is the largest sporting event ever held in the UAE and Oman.
The animated animation, composed by acclaimed Bollywood music director Amit Trivedi, depicts young fans from around the world immersed and involved in explosive T20I cricket, as well as some of the sport's top personalities.
The ICC Men's T20 World Cup is the summit of the shortest format of cricket and returns to New Zealand on October 17th for the first time in five years. The competition promises high-octane cricket and entertainment for all, including families and newcomers, with matches taking place across the UAE and Oman in a safe Covid-19 atmosphere. 16 countries will compete in the sport's greatest tournament since the pandemic, featuring the sport's top celebrities and strongest teams.
Kieron Pollard, one of T20 cricket's most explosive batsmen and captain of the defending winners, is looking forward to this year's competition. It marks the return of the cricket world cup following last year's ICC Women's T20 World Cup, which drew 86,174 spectators to the famous MCG for the final, a record for any women's cricket tournament.
“There is something enchanted and wonderful about donning the West Indies shirt and taking the field. This year's ICC Men's T20 World Cup will provide us with further memorable experiences. We are aware that our supporters will be completely involved, watching, and supporting, and we want to provide them with plenty of reasons to celebrate. Glenn Maxwell, Australia's all-rounder and one of the best T20I players of all time, concurs. "The ICC Men's T20 World Cup is set to be one of the most difficult and thrilling tournaments in history. There are numerous teams that have a chance to win the trophy, and each game will seem like a final. We're excited to begin learning about the calibre of talent we have."
On Friday, 17 October, at Muscat's Oman Cricket Academy, Oman will face ICC Men's T20 World Cup debutants Papua New Guinea in the tournament's opening match.
Sharjah Cricket Stadium and Abu Dhabi's Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium are two of the remaining three host venues, while the final will be held at Dubai International Stadium on Sunday, 14 November.

The ICC Men's T20 World Cup Trophy can be accessed virtually via a 3D augmented reality filter available on the T20 World Cup's official Facebook and Instagram sites.
The greatest fan-generated material will be highlighted and celebrated weekly on the T20 World Cup's social media channels, where fans can also enter to win autographed event gear and contribute to the trophy's expansion to more cricket-playing nations than ever before.
Virat Kohli, India's captain and host nation, leads a group of players brought to life in the animation as'avatars' that interact with one another throughout. Kohli is joined by fellow West Indies captain Kieron Pollard, as well as Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell and Afghanistan's Rashid Khan. The film, which was created in conjunction with the ICC's global broadcast partner Star Sports, premieres globally today through the ICC, BCCI, and Star Sports social media channels. The animation utilises a cutting-edge broadcast technique that combines 3D and 2D effects to create a visually appealing picture. The final version was created by a production crew of about 40 individuals, including designers, modellers, matte painters, animators, lighters, and compositors.
