A Silent Revolution - a book on Srinivasan Services Trust’s work in Rural
Srinivasan Services Trust (SST), the social arm of Sundaram-Clayton Limited and TVS Motor Company, announced the publication of the book titled 'A Silent Revolution-The Journey of the Srinivasan Services Trust' on the occasion of its 25th anniversary.
Snigdha Parupudi is the author of the book, which is published by HarperCollins India. She has written a sympathetic narrative of rural communities that have entirely modified their life in order to become self-sufficient and empowered.
Thiru M.K. Stalin, Tamil Nadu's Hon'ble Chief Minister, unveiled the book. Venu Srinivasan gave the first book to Thiru M.K. Stalin, Tamil Nadu's Hon'ble Chief Minister.
‘A Silent Revolution-The Srinivasan Services Trust's Journey' introduces readers to SST's fascinating journey as an enabler of transformational change in rural communities who are underserved. The tale includes remarkable examples of how SST has worked tirelessly to improve the socioeconomic position of rural India's impoverished. Additionally, the book details the Trust's excellent interventions across six major pillars: economic growth, environment, social and cultural development, infrastructure, healthcare, and education, all of which have aided in the improvement of rural populations' lives.
Venu Srinivasan, Chairman of TVS Motor Company and Managing Trustee of Srinivasan Services Trust, stated, "When we established SST 25 years ago, we had no idea how our social work would develop. Our premise was founded on the group's guiding values of Trust, Value Creation, and Community Service. We desired to play a role in enabling sustainable development. This book is a tribute to the dignity, prosperity, and hope that Srinivasan Services Trust has instilled in local communities via its diligent efforts. I want to convey my heartfelt gratitude to Snigdha Parupudi for creating a doorway into this metamorphosis through this book.”
Underscoring the idea of TVS Motor Company and its founders, the book embodies SST's patient and progressive approach to developing self-sufficient and successful rural areas through management techniques. Additionally, the author has brilliantly collected vignettes from beneficiaries and SST field employees, providing a firsthand account of how positive change occurs and what is required for transformation.
Srinivasan continued, "Like the little drops of water that eventually flow into the great Amazon, it is not the hundreds of people working in SST that make this powerful change possible; it is the thousands of people working for themselves in the villages." That is truly what we are harnessing. As we continue to grow our presence in villages, my hope is that our work will inspire other corporate groups to investigate our concept of scalable, sustainable development for those in most need.”
Snigdha Parupudi, author of 'A Silent Revolution: The Journey of the Srinivasan Services Trust,' stated, "While writing this book, I was struck by the strength and simplicity of the work being done by the Srinivasan Services Trust. It was an honour to spend time with SST's team and the strong communities with which they operate. SST possesses an old-world authenticity that I associate with TVS Motor Company. What they have accomplished in such a low-key fashion is nothing short of revolutionary. I feel that the world, now more than ever, requires these stories of hope and possibility.”
SST's methodology for changing attitudes and communities empowers India's underserved — those who live in India's countryside and have been left out of the country's economic boom over the last few decades. This book is timely, as Corporate Social Responsibility has the ability to contribute to the creation of a new India. It demonstrates how a forward-thinking, well-organized initiative may transform lives for the better. The book will be accessible on Amazon India via this link.
